I would be surprised if anyone much recommends using an airless spray system for painting a car, but you can get a good finish on smaller articles (such as you suggest) with a bit of practice and patience.
I have a Wagner W650, and I think Wagner is a pretty good brand. I've only used it for painting timber- palings, shed walls etc.
Like all paint gear, you need to ensure it is cleaned properly when finished.
