Just picked this up.
Yes, it is an original, complete with creases, pin holes, tears and stains. Smiley
Now I gotta find a big frame to preserve it.

What a great pick up.  Congratulations and thanks for sharing it.

Can you tell us where/how you got it.

Well done Alex, nice score (I also think that is what the boys in the yellow FJ thought when they cracked on to Anne/Eva in the movie) Wink

I assume you have a copy of the movie?

Without trying to sound like a cheeky bastard, you are probably old enough to remember going to the drivein to see the movie premiere.  Did the clubs all go for a night out?  I was only a kid, but I remember all the OLD club members talking about it a long time ago.

Sorry for hijacking the post Alex, but while I'm feeling nostalgic, has anybody got a copy of Mr Hudson's 'Newcastle Song' they could email?  Remember young Normie driving up and down Hunter Street in his FJ Holden sitting eight abreast in the front seat??  I haven't been able to find my 45rpm single of this song for years. Embarrassed

Picked up the poster on Ebay. The guy was in Aus, but listed it on Ebay US. Scored it with 1 bid.  Grin

The movie came out in '77, and though I might be older than Shayne, I did not have a car or even a license yet.

As for the movie, I don't have a copy. I have bid on atleast 1/2 a dozen on ebay, but always outbid.
They go for anything from $30-$90 when they show up (ex rental usually). I am tracking down a guy who has a lot of out of print movies and am hoping to score a copy.

do you want the radio version or the very rare 10 minute version?
unfortunately the pathenon milk bar closed down about 5 years ago, the no parking sign out the front must have killed it but I still got to eat there before it closed, all the menu items had names either related to norm or fj holdens.
I am currently having problems with my burner but could put both versions on cassette.
I have lost my cd after it got lent to about 20 different young hoons who couldnt beleive that there was actually once a song about cruising hunter street.
I now only have the two verions in mp3 quality.

Thanks Leon, but i've already taken Norm up on his offer to supply copies of song.

I remember going to the Parthenon for a look.

Better get back to talking about FJ Holden movie, or custom-FC might get cranky Wink Wink

Hey Shayne.
Thanks for the link.
Did you notice this pic amongst the site owners collection of memories of Bankstown?

77 Sir Joseph Banks St Bankstown c1961.

As can be seen on the site, Paul Kelly, a forum member here contributed a few pics from his personal collection.

Yes I do remember this movie I do have a copy.
As a youg lad (hoon) I drove FJs around Bankstown.
This was about 1968-1969. I can relate to the World Square restraunt it was very modern then. I look at the Buisneses in the background & remember dealing with then, places like Dixie Drinks. The streets around Bankstown befor Malls. It  does remind me of my past however i can tell you I dont remember the (Ladies) girls being so friendly Grin........I lived in the nearby suburb of Padstow so Banlstown was a part of our crusing area.....A night out was a Hamburger befor the Golden Arches were the place to go,Milkshake (Chocolate) & Drive Drive Drive....and if you were lucky......Well..as I said the girls portrayed in the Movie were  friendlier then I recall.  At one time I had three FJs in my fathers backyard....couldnt give them away so I gave them away for scrap Huh.....Had to make way for a Fe, but later the Fe was sold on so I could get a FC. Wink.
So you can see I have very fond memories of the early Holden & this movie is one I can relate to.
I wonder if we could get the Drive in to run it for car clubs....Well Ret you seem to make the impossible happen.........How about it...Grey Pride  was a Huge success....Imagine all those cars at the drive in with this Movie showing...All Modern cars to the Back please. Smiley

Hi all
I lived in punchbowl as a kid when this movie first came out. My dad use to drink at the old sundowner hotel that was in the movie & my cousin worked at the wrecking yard where in the movie was shot. I have a copy I watch every now & again it brings back a lot of memories. My teenage kids watched it about a month ago & just about fell of the lounge laughing about the way kids looked & acted back then.
