FC Holdens & Mini Coopers....Cars of the Century

Im at that stage where I've picked my colours for my resto, but now the car is at the paint shop and almost up to primer, I'm having 2nd guesses.

So I'm hoping you guys/gals can help me.

If you have an FC.....SPECIAL with chrome...... SEDAN...... already painted ( no wrecks ) and can post the pic on this thread, can you please do so.

I'm really just after some ideas of what other FC Special sedans look like.....I don't mind Stock or modified pics.

I have searched the pics under "Real Cars", but it's taken me all night and half the pics don;t come up any more, so it would be easier if I had most pics on the one thread.

My current choice is Burgundy and Champagne, but not sure which way round.....then I see a stock original paint job and fall in love with that too.

I'm sure theres many of you aout there who have been through the same dilemma, but I don;t want to spend $10 grand and not be happy...and once it's painted, theres no turning back.

So if you have pics of your car, please post thhem here, so I can get some ideas.........

Thanks heaps.

Hi Mark.
This is a phoyo of my Dad's first "New" car. Well, it was the Nettlefolds demo FC. This was apparently taken when the car was 6 months old. Beautiful colours.

Mark,

Colours are a very personal choice, but I've always really loved silver over burgundy on a modified FC Special. Been done before though. John Raps dark gun metal grey looks very classy, while a bright yellow modified under contruction in Sydney is very 'in your face'. Then again you could always paint it grey - NOT!! :-)

If you send me some colour ideas I can mock the thing up in photoshop. If you give me a name and supplier of your wheels I can add these as well so you can actually view the car before its finished. I will keep it under wraps as well if you like.

Let me know.

Cheers,

Craig.

What's wrong with grey?? They are the originals on my FE - including the trim.

I couldn't believe how nicely timed this comment was just after my wife and I had a reasonably strong discussion on this very subject....!

Here's an interesting option along the same lines as you mentioned.

I really like this combo.

Alex,

You might have a picture of the car I was referring to earlier - I'm sure it was in street machine in the '80's - possibly even a cover car?

There was also one similar at the first NSW AHD way back when.

That's a really nice looking car in the shot. Looks to be from Victoria? Anyone know who owns it?

Cheers,

Craig

Hey Craig.
I think the car you are refering to may be the FC of Bob Lubic. (I believe the same guy in the papers of late found dead at the 'Gap') I do have some pics, would have to dig 'em up. The car did appear on the cover of SM, but only a small pic in the corner. I think this car might be in Vic now, with custom plates.
Here's another along the burgundy theme.

Just remembered I posted a pic of the Bob Lubic FC in an earlier post. Not the best pic, but here it is. Pic taken in '84.

SRV.....probably was spelt Ljubic.

Good one Alex, that's exactly the car. How shiny are those alloy wheels!!!

It was such a beautiful car - there you go Mark, burgundy and silver everywhere!!
