Guys, This question gets asked fairly frequently so I thought I would post these details for a carby rebuild service. Company Name: Xtreme Fuel Systems Contact Name: Nigel Contact Email: niffty101@bigpond.comA number of us in the NSW Club have used Nigel's services to rebuild Strombergs and his workmanship is FIRST class. Carbies I have seen supplied by Nigel are fully rebuilt, replated and look and operate as new. You'll also be suprised at the reasonable prices, and fast service. Two thumbs up! Cheers, Craig.

Doh !
THis thread is about 1 week to late !
I just had my Triple CD 150 Strommies recond here in Perth. Cost me $190 each, and for that I got them totally stripped. 3 stage acid bathed, new shafts, new butterflies, springs ect and rebuilt.
They seem to be spot on, but they are now a dull grey acid cleaned alloy and not plated or clean looking.
I've now had to paint the bodies and have the caps sent off for chroming, which is more money on top.
Oh well, done now....but I would have preferred a plated finish rather than painted.....thems the breaks !
For those interested, I've painted my strommies ( body only ) in the same colour as my engine, being Holden Rocket Red Engine Enamel, so they should stand up to the heat and fuel/oil drips ( if any ). I've got the caps away at present being chromed and will be fitting Lynx Ram-Flo Chrome mesh basket type round filters. I've seen this set up in a street machine from a few years back in an XU1 Torrie, and actually looked quite sweet.

Mark, Can't wait to see your carbies completed. Should look very special. Here is a picture of my CD175's - chromed upper and lower assy's, and painted bodies - exactly the same as your plans. I used the original filters though, and had polished fuel lines and a chromed manifold. Ended up selling that carby set up for $700.00 in 1985. Early '80's fashion makes a comeback Cheers, Craig

Thanks for that Craig.....I'm only using the Ramflo style filters, as they came with the carbs when I bought them off a forum member ( Can't recall who ), a year or so ago.
I bought the set of 3 CD150's, a genuine HOLDEN XU1 manifold, and the Filters including linkages and fuel block and lines for $350
I've then tossed the old linkages and spent about $60 on a new set ( Shaft to Shaft style ). Recond the carbs $570 Chromed Caps $30 New Filter Pads $50
So all up they've cost me best part of $1100, so I decided it was better to clean up the old Ramflo's rather than spend another $100 plus on new pancake style filters.
When they are all back together which should be soon, I'll endeavour to take a pic and ask someone kindly to post it on the site for you to check out,so keep an eye out for them.
Cheers
Mark

If anyone is wanting this type of work done in Perth, I would recomend carbuettor exchange in freo (9335 1769) They did an excelent job on my strommies, there are a few pics in the photo section of this site if you want to take a look.
Cheers Jason

I've recently purchased two Strombergs outright from them, set up in the X2 style for my twin manifold with brackets and linkages between the carbs. They look spectacular.
They are currently reconditioning and recolouring a grey motor fuel pump, and I have sent down a pair of 600 Holleys from my Shelby to have completely overhauled.
All this has been done over the net, by phone and through the mail, without any glitches.

Running a business through ebay/the internet/PO Box is a good way to do business if you are a one man band. It may put some people off, but if you have a good rep, word of mouth advertising will keep business rolling in, such as CraigA's recommendation. This gives the owner a chance to sit down and work properly without "monkeys" hassling him over the counter or over the phone. How many carbs a day would he do if was on the phone or counter all the time. slips Moderator hat on - Anyway guys, chill and remember - Read twice, post once Don't make me come over there! Moderator hat off.

Hi Guys, I don't normally post here as I have HK sedan and a HT ute (soon to wreck), but it's thanks to this thread + I have just received my two barrel stromberg back from http://www.xtremefuelsystems.com.au and thought i'd post a pic... Nigel was a great bloke to deal with, cleaned the manifold and plated extra parts for free and I got it all back in less than 2 weeks. Very happy with the service If you would like to see my Hk you can look at http://68HK.oldholden.comCheers, Elton. ps i'm after an aircleaner to suit if anyone can help

That manifold looks very nice.
There's chrome standard type air cleaner on ebay at the moment, check in HD HR HK HT HG parts.

thanks SRVLIVES, I've seen that chrome one but it's for a single barrel here's a before and after shot that Nigel sent me, you can see what a brilliant job he has done, and how he even replaced a few bits like the choke rods the service has been second to none.

Hi 68HK.
The chrome one on ebay, that says it suits a single barrel will also the the WW if you change the base.
The chrome bit you can see is the same.
Dr Terry.

Brett wonders out aloud: "Will a Variojet air filter base fit a WW Stromberg?" If so, then one of those bases coupled with the chrome top piece might be just the shot for 68hk.
Cheers

No, it wont fit. A Variajet air filter base has a rectangular opening to fit the carby. ACE

Hi Guys. Just a plug for Nigel & his carby services. I got one for my new EH & cannot believe how fast, professional & patient he was. I asked quite a few stupid questions & Nigel was only too happy to give me the answers I was looking for. I had even tried to order to wrong carby & he put me on the right track. It arrived 3 days after I ordered it & it is 100% spot on. I was going to bung it on straight away, but now because it looks so shiny & new, the motor will come out for a freshen up & detail (paint, decal & polish) & the new carb will go on. Now to get one for the FC. Trust me fellas, this guy is good. Regards, Rob J
