DIFF IDENTIFICATION

here is a pic of the diff that we just pulled out of a hr wagon

doesnt quite seem like a hr diff

when stripping the car we noticed that the brakes were mounted in another position and also after removal, we measured it against a standard fc diff and it turned out shorter. it was my understanding that hr diffs were shorter so this leads me to expect that it is a torana diff

any help would be great

hey torque

the two "long" bolts at the bottom tell me that is most likely a torana diff. i am running a 2.78 in my HT which came out of a torana rear end which looks identical to yours.

you will find the diff ratio stamped into the flange just behind the yolk.

Also if you're going to pull the diff centre out of the housing, the ratio is written on the crown wheel.

Hi Guys.

The diff centre with the 2 long bolts is a 3.08 or a 2.78.

These are seen in anything HK onwards, but more commonly in Toranas.

AFAIK an HR diff is the same width as an FC diff, so the shorter one is probably a Torana LC/LJ/LH/LX converted to leaf spring mounts.

If you post me the exact length (drum face to drum face) I can identify it for you.
