Hi All
As some of you are aware, I have been trying to get a fibreglass hard tonneau made for my EK ute. Currently my ute is at Hardcover having a cover made.
The reason I am telling you all this is that they will use my ute to make the mould from which FE, FC, FB and EK covers will be made. At the moment, they have just put an EJ-EH cover on which will fit with modification. The EJ-EH cover is from their SPORTZ range the main feature of which is a large recessed V in the top side of the cover (the same as that in the Commodore cover shown).
I have the option of having the cover made with just a plain smooth flat top but this means a lot more work for Hardcover.
What I am asking for is your opinion on which style you would prefer. In other words, these will be available for sale in the future (but only in one style due to large cost of making the mould) and some of you may like to purchase one. Would you prefer:
• A cover from their SPORTZ range with the large recessed V, or
• A plain smooth flat cover?
Please let me know.

Good choice Edward, if I needed a cover for my sedan or station sedan I would definately be looking at purchasing a flat one.

Hi All Thanks for your opinions on the hard cover for the ute. As hardcover already had a tonneau for the EJ-EH utes that incorporated their trademark ‘Sportz’ design, it was decided to use this as the basis for FE-EK cover (the cost of starting a whole new cover from scratch was significantly more than doing it this way). Ordinarily the cover would be installed with a black pinchweld that incorporates a rubber seal (like a door seal on a modern car) around the outside edge. However, I wanted a plain look so that when the cover was painted the same colour of the car, the edge would be less noticeable. To compensate for the lack of the pinchweld, thick foam tape has been used to bridge the gap between the top of the tray and the cover. Also, I have had my cover made without locks as I am thinking of keeping these concealed for a slightly cleaner look. The cover is upholstered on its underside with a marine carpet and the whole assembly can be removed by two people in less than a minute. All in all a great product.
