Hi,

Not exactly a restoration question, rather a preservation question.  I've just bought a celica 5sp box that probably won't be getting installed for a year or so.

Is there a special storage lubricant available for transmissions, or will standard gear box oil do?

Cheers

Dave,

Why not use a very light oil like auto transmission fluid? This will prevent rust, spread easily throughout the gearbox, and drain away easily when it comes time to fit the gearbox and fill with the correct grade of oil. Its pretty cheap too!

Cheers,

Craig.
