It has a similar shape to the 48 Chevy, but could not say whether or not it is one.

Pretty close, Jason! It is a 1947 Chev. Quite a rare car here & as our little Chicken loving friend has noted, it would probably have had a Canadian as well!!
What's that in the background. Did you get the plates off that one?

Hi Norm. Nice site. The US didn't use these utes at all. They used light trucks. Until the ElCamino came it, this was it. I am not 100% sure, but I think the first car styled ute (ElCamino) in the US Chev line up was the 59. Will stand corrected though. That is why they were built in Canada, as it was cheaper there, due to the "Commonwealth connection".
46's had 6 vertical bars & no name plate on the top section & 47's had 5 verticals & the name "Chevrolet" on the top. Also, the overriders were futher spaced on the 46 models, but that isn't relevant on the utes, as they has "Commercial" bars. Solid steel bars.
Hope that helps.
That other car may be a 48 Chev 4 door. Not 100% sure.

Yep, 47 Chev four door, complete with suicide doors. Must have been a good year for Farmer Brown That motor is a 216ci. I may be keen on that oil filter set up if he wants to sell. Regards, Rob J

Hi Nick, another background question. Did you check out the truck thats in the backgrond of the picture of the 4 door? Must be parked just next to the ute I think. Do you know what it is? Did you get a picture of it? Anything else in the background of that picture?
cheers Tony

Nick I see you have been out on the prowl again, and come up with yet another great find. Thanks for sharing them with us and keep them coming.
Rob I remember bouncing around in the back of my Fathers Old Chev with those suicide doors it was around the same era. I was really young around 6/7 and the car was really old about 20 + then. Mum has some pics some where I see if she can dig them out.
Cheers Sarge

Hi Nick, pretty sure the truck is a 38 F word. Ive been looking for a Chev truck of around that era. Very similar roof line. Very similar all round, but the grills are the main feature that distinguishes them all. Looks like a good project for someone. Nice hunting. cheers Tony

Hi Guys. Yep, Tony is spot on. Can't miss the Ford grille. Also, note just back from the grille, on the side bonnet curtain, there is an indented oval shape? Guess what was there?
Nice truck, quite a rare find.
