I was told by a chromer to get metal TIG welded if it's going to be chromed. MIG leaves tiny little holes apparently that will ruin the chrome.

Most chrome plater's would prefure you let them do the repair's.  

Glen you are 100% correct. Tig welding is the way to go. Mig welding does leave tiny pin holes.

im going to weld the back off the bars first then get a mate to tig the front

i just cut and welded mine up with the mig then the chrome platers cleaned them up with brass. then i had the perfect smooth effect.

hey fatboy, if your after chromers i can highly reccomend electroplating technology in queanbeyan 02 62970535.
pretty good prices but top quality work. my bumbers came up a treat, worked wonders with the cast things i sent them too. i think it was the same guys fitzy used aswell.

Yep, they are the guys to go to for your chroming. They did all the stuff on my car.
