Hi all,
As you can see in the picture, it was a big relief not starting any fires with the welding.  This is something I wouldn't recommend to ANYONE and in hindsight, I'd probably never do it again!  
At the time, though, it was worth it with a 10 hour drive in front of us, we finally made it home by midnight.  The repairs at Cooma took 3 hours and once again I'd like to thank the ACT Club members for their help and support in getting me back on the road.  Thanks again to Kel for the use of his garage and equipment.  Special thanks too, to Coline Tierney for staying around and helping me put the car back together.

You wright Al,
               The gear lever tube broke at the Adelaide Nats 1999 and l replaced it. Will cary a spare from now on. Must of been all those gear changes trying to get up all those hills to Jinabyne.

This also happened to my Fc about a month before we went to the Nationals in Sydney in 2003,I suppose I should be grateful it didn't on the trip like it did for Tony, Tony in Tasmania  Smiley

Good idea to repair in car, when mine went a few years ago I took it out, a mongrel of a job.

Tony as you can see l like to do it in style at the Nationals and Zulu dont know if it was a good idea quicker mybe but bad on the stress one loose spark and up in flames. Tony hope to see a few of the Tassie club members at next years FE/FC Nationals at Phillip Island would be good to have all the states represented.
