Windlacing and inner door rubbers

Hi guys,

I have a few questions.

1. I have just purchased some new windlacing to fit into my FC sedan. I'm just wondering how I am meant to fit it in? I have been told that some windlacing has 'teeth' on the flat strip of material that allows it to cling. The windlacing I purchased doesn't have these teeth. I am wondering how I am meant to stop it from dropping out?

2. My FC is missing the strip of rubber that runs parallel to the B pillar at the back of the front door and the front of the rear door. I am wondering if the rubber that I need is the inner door seal? My rare spares catalogue (and on the net) doesn't give any details, and my rare spares dealer wasn't sure.


I know that these questions are most probably very easily answered, but the FC is my first project, and am learning very slowly.

Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. RET, I ended up making my own number plate frames out of aluminium!

         The windlace is held in place by the same metal tooth strip that holds in the roof lining. This metal strip is attached to the edge of the inner body of the car. Use a scrapper or similar type tool to push the windlace up between the body & the roof lining BE CAREFULL not to rip the roof lining.
           The seals that you explained are the inner door seals.

just wondering, I am still to buy windlacing as mine was always missing. did you find original type windlacing?
I havent been able to find any but I saw other windlacing at a trim supplier that was light blue with a silvery grey patern in it, it was like cloth wrapped around a round peice of soft rubber, I was under the impression that our cars had thin strip of plastic in the over side to hold it in the body, is this rite and does this go through the whole piece of wind lacing or does it stop at the hoodlinning teeth.
I was thinking of stitching in some electrical wire or something into the windlacing to hold it in the body.

I bought some plastic coated clothes line, yellow, about 2mm diameter to sew into the 'tail' which will fit into the retaining rail.

The windlace is rolled and stitched where it goes down the A pillar, it is slid in first then the area under the hood lining is inserted - the workshop manual shows very clear pics of what is involved.
