Hello,

I am using an XM ford wiper motor (preslite), I believe this may be similar to the motors found in an EH holden?

anyway, there are 4  leads coming out of the plug cap, red, red, yellow and green.

the red wires appear to terminate at the same point under the wiring cap.

I applied power to the unit via one of the red leads. and the motor activates thru the switch as a pathway to earth.

the motor rotates (clockwise) for slow, and anticlockwise for fast.. is this normal?

also I cant get the motor to park properly, it turns off instantly.

any help appreciated.

Ed,

I don't know about the thing going in reverse, but FWIW, the elct motor conversion that Ken McLean puts out is very sensitive to earthing the switch for the auto park function.  Use "star" lock washers that bight into the metal under the long screws that hold the dash in place.

I have a similar problem, only my 2 speed electric wipers (which did work some time back), have only 2 connectors on the top of the wiper body and my my wiper switch only has 2 connections on the back.  I cant work out how the hell it is supposed to be connected, it must get power from somewhere and I cant imagine the switch would carry power.

Anyone else got these and know how they wire up?

All help is appreciated.

From my bit of playing about with the motor etc.

The power is applied constantly to the wiper motor.  the switch operates on the earth side of things.

problems I have experienced are.. wiper motor causing a short circuit.
and the motor rotating in opposite directions on slow and fast.

hope this is of some help, it has been a source of frustration for me.

So if I understand correctly one connection should be power (from ignition) and the other to the switch, however the switch has 2 connections on it., is one of these earth as well?

from my experimentation....

yes the switch must be grounded to allow a switchable earth for the wiper motor.

wiper switch:
one lead to wiper motor earth.
other lead to ground.

this should get things working.

test it out hoooked up to a battery charger as a power source to wiper motor.
