Thanks, the idea was to use as much of  the donor commodore as possible and keep it low budget, if thats possible in this hobby!!!
The good part is that now its driveable so I can enjoy it as it gets finshed off.

Hey sgo,

Nice work so far. Did you use a Berlina for the mods? I noticed you've got the cruise control set-up but no elec aerial, and exec seats?
I'm looking at doing similar mods to a ute or van so this gives me a good idea of what I'm in for...  Roll Eyes

The donor car was an executive but somewhere along the line cruise had been added and the right dash switches included.
All berlina goodies would be nice!!

just looking at the r/h binnacle switch it isnt berlina
because all berlinas had cruise.ican supply berlina r/h
binnacle switch.i can also supply l/h trip computer biinacle and that will allow a calais dash to be wired up
with a patch harness i have. i can even do it for u if you are in melbourne.call brad at commwreck on 03 9330 3600

sorry i just looked at the right hand binnacle again
it has cruise but no aerial as someone has pointed out
i can supply the aerial up and down buttons and the l/h hsv binnacle and cluster if required as i said before to make a calais dash work.pretty easily

HI v6,fc
just looking at your fc nice job lot of work gone into it,Im putting a v6 into my  s/w just wondering if you could give me some advice,for example what kind of petrol tank are you using ,are you using  power steering?and I was wondering about front brakes and steering coloum,I was going to use vn coloum but pat garder told me he has not made a kit yet ,and i am going to use vn front discs

    ps. no fc ciub in wa?       cheers jim wa

G'day Jim, as with most mods I think there are more than one way to get the desired result. I used a sedan as a doner car and used every part that I could make fit!
As for the steering column I used the VP one but think it is too short for a comfortable driving position, so it is on my list of things to re-do.

Ed., I finally got round to fitting that glove-box lid, but covered in carbon-fibre, to match the rest of the dash.

The commodore rear seat fits, with a few inches cut out of the middle!

The rear seatbelt mounts are sorted,

Must be time to visit the engineer soon!

Hey George, That dash looks shit hot mate, an absolute credit to you considering how bad they can look when grafting new into old ,Hope you dont mind me taking a few pointers on how to obtain excelence  Wink
Do you have cruise somewhere in that engine bay ? I was thinking of putting it under the guard but not sure how it would weather and was wondering where you have placed it .
Also did you try to use the original commodore tunnel at all ,By the pics yours looks fabricated?
And wheres your handbrake ?Couldnt spot it in the original position .

G'day Harko,thanks for the comments on the dash.The cruise unit is mounted on the firewall above and behind the brake-booster. The vp booster sits forward a bit so there is some space there. You can just make it out in the photo of the engine bay.For the trans. tunnel the original opening in the floor was enlarged back to the crossmember and with the gear box in place a new tunnel mocked up in cardboard, fabricated and welded in.You can also see the crossmember has been raised to above the floor level.I think it should have gone higher for more ground clearance!On the other hand I think the photos of the commodore tunnel in FEVANV6 look cool.In the photo of the dash you can see the handbrake poking up between the seats.It's the vp handbrake and the vp cables fit without mods in this position.

Have finally got around to visiting an engineer, got the paperwork and dropped in to VicRoads to keep them happy.
With the legalities out of the way can now concentrate on finishing all the rest.
Only have to move the radiator across to make space for an air-cond. compressor, touch up the body and do all the interior, should be complete in only a few years! Smiley

Long time between progress updates, but some cool  Tongue progress indeed.
Those 2 features should make your FC nice and cosy to cruise in.
