Hope someone out there can help me with the body colours/codes and interior trim colours/codes for my latest restoration project.
The Body Identification panel has no numbers stamped whatsoever.

That's spectacularly unhelpful, Ed.  Rabbitoh did say the car doesn't have any info on the ID plate.

Does it have a 74...... part number instead of the usual FE-225-xxxxx-L code?

Anyway, looking at the car I would suspect that it is Granite Grey over Castle Grey.  If that was the case, the codes would read thus (if it had them):

Body: FE-225-xxxxx-L
Trim: 236-709
Paint: 253-7698
         253-7700

Matched interior for this trim is Cobweb Grey & Parchment Ivory, which seems to tally with your other photo.  The other colour combination I thought it might be is Anvil Grey over Cabot Grey (202-465), but that comes with a red interior (Fall Red & Parchment Ivory).  There's one similar for sale on Ebay at the moment.  Item number 2498046107

Hope that's some help.  I'd be interested to hear a bit more about the car, especially the ID plate.  There was another like this in the Vic Club newsletter only a month or so ago.

cheers

Hey guys...
I was at the meeting the other month when Richard mentioned the above mentioned article in the Vic newsletter but never got a chance to have a read.... any chance we can get a copy posted here, or maybe one emailed out...? Sounds very interesting and I'd love to have a read...!

Cheers
Les.....

Thanks for that very educated guess Ret. You're on the money with the 74 prefix part no. stamped on the i.d. plate. The body is that of an FE/217 Business Sedan which Ken thinks may have been used after a major trauma around 1961 to rebuild the car (for whatever reason). Chassis appears to be stamped circa this time as well. I.D. plate photo enclosed.

Hi Rabbitoh
7405999 in the part number for a FE/217 body shell in primer less the boot lid and the 35 would presumably stand for the 35th shell made, and the 1961 price for the shell was around 159 pounds.

regards mike.

Thanks for that Mike. Every little bit of information helps to put the jigsaw puzzle together.
