Hello,

non FE/FC related general tech question here.

I have a motorcycle with a metal head gasket, on removal it had black sealant on both sides whcih came off easily with mineral turps.

to reinstall..

what sealant is used?

do I smear and even coat of it all over the gasket and just torque down as normal (being careful not to get the sealant in the water jackets).

any hints are appreciated,

Cheers

Hi Ed.

When I build motors with plain metal head gaskets I use 'Copper Coat' or similar. It is a spray can sealant, which, I think has copper particles in it & is designed exactly for this purpose.

Regards.
