The car may not be your or my cup of tea, but I bet it has cost him more than the asking price to build.  These days you can spend nearly this amount on restoring a stock car, if you do all the detail work and want a concourse finish.

However, I wish him well in getting a sale, and maybe the buyer will join our club, so we can all get to check it out.

Do the Math...   ...( These are guess-timates )

- Weld Wheels and Mickey Thomson Tyres $2500
- V8 Chev recond $3000
- Powerglide $2000
- Ford 9" Diff, Disc to Disc and recond $1500
- B&M Shifter $500
- NoS $1000
- Chassis kit for V8 conversion $500
- HR Front End to hold V8 $ 500
- Paint to show condition $8000
- Re-trimmed Interior $2000
-Re-Chroming and Polishing $1000
- New Rubber Kit $1000
- New Wiring Harness $500
- Misc Bits & Pieces $500

That brings you up to around $22000

Then add the price of the car itself, which was probably a fair condition road registered FC.....$3000

That's $25000

Then add in the countless hours of restoration.....$ Priceless !

I'd say if he got $30 000, he'd be barely breaking even !

But that's just my personal opinion !

( ps )...no, I don't know the owner or the car.....

I agree with Geoff, there's clearly been serious cash spent on that car.  You never get your money back on a modified, I think that's a fact of life.

Having said that, my ol' Faecal was fully rebuilt and trimmed once upon a time, has been engineered, has a 2 speed powerglide, and a fairly big stereo.  That's about half the features listed of this beast, and you can have her for $15,000.  How's that for a bargain? Grin

cheers

Ret,
I've done my sums and i will take your car but i only need it to have a 10000th of what the modified car has so i only owe you $3.00. then again if you only give me 100000th as much then i only owe 30 cents. then again if you only give me 1000000 I will only owe you 3 cents. then again "no not again" I must stop this obsession and get a life !

Sarge,
You have started me going again. If you are prepared to pay $6.00 for Ret's car, are you then expecting Ret to give you 20000th of the Modified FC if you want to better my offer buy want to save money why dont you take it for $4.50 then you save A1.50 and still get 14999.99th, then again if you offered Ret $3.01 which is a cent higher than my offer you still get 0.000903th but then i might increase my bid to $3.02 then i get 0.000906th but "Sorry i must go the doctor is putting this realy tight jacket on me"

My Question is where do you get it. This stuff might help me  understand the post in the first place and then I may just have half an idea of what it is that his selling or I am buying in the second place and thirdly how much do I get for $4.54 or just round it off at $4.55. Well I better go know as if the offer is accepted then I got to work out how many hours work I must do to cover the cost of obtaining some of this drink, smoke or what ever it is and then I have to work out how many hours I have to work to buy what ever I think I have just agreed to buy.
So Mick what was the Question again. Wink

Cheers

good evening to all, on the subject of cash, take it from me, if you intend to spend $25,000.00 plus on an fe/fc, you do it for yourself, then you die with the sucker still in your possession. i know, i stopped counting at $35,000.00, and i would be a fool to even try and expect half that back.
but, then again, it is a one off, its how i wanted it, its a neck breaker and i love it.
to the extent that i have gotten rid of my daily ride and use the ute.(must find a 2nd job to pay for the fuel now, heh heh)
if youre in melb and you see propig rumble past, toot, wave, even pull me over, have a chat, all welcome
