Hey all, the spear on the front guards of FE has the word Holden on it. Now the one's on my car are unpainted, however on the weekend I picked a pair up at a garage sale which have the word Holden painted red. The paint is faded, so my question is what shade of red is it so I can restore them. Oh also why are some painted and some not painted. Does anybody have a pic of an FE with the painted spears fitted so I can get an Idea of what they look like on the car.

Cheers

Is Ken not a Guru?  I would think Ken is the Guru.

"I'm the hero of the hour, either here or Manhattan"...

Anyway, to your question.  If your spears have no colour, then it's faded out.  All of them originally had the red colour in them.  As to the correct colour, it's been discussed here before, same as the die-cast badges on wagons, hub-cap centres and the Holden and Special strips on the boot of an FE Special Sedan.

The red has no official colour name or shade that has been identified so far.  All that can be done is too colour match a good sample & go from there.

Sarge,

Have a look at Maranello Red, a Holden colour circa 1977-1983.

Cheers
