Does anybody out there know of any type of blower that will suit a grey motor.  I have only heard of a supercharged grey but never seen one.  I have a FB ute and was toying with the possibility of supercharging it for a bit of fun and something different.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Scott
You could buy a supercharger kit off the shelf years ago for grey motors. The blower was made by Norman Superchargers. Very rare thing these days, it has taken me 15 years to track one down. Outputs of 240 hp was possible with this blower on the grey motor.Grin

I've got a Norman blower for my FE, I'm fitting it to the old grey with a few mods, should be good!! hehe
Can send you a few pics if your keen.
Cheers
Tony

Hi there.
I can recall that an FJ custom coupe from the 60's called the Bobcat has a Norman supercharger on it. The car is still around today. I believe the Norman blower is still available new, or was up until as recent as 10 or so years ago when I picked up a sale brochure. Another example of a blown grey can be found in another FJ (FX?) custom called the Jigsaw. I believe this car used a GMC type blower on a highly detailed grey, using billet accessories.

Hi Alex
The Norman blower hasn't been availible for years. The casting moulds were destroyed in the early 70's when the manufacturer Eldred Norman died. His son Mike Norman started to hand make a few blowers later on, but gave up due to other work comittments and general lack of interest. Mike hasn't seen one of his dads blowers for many years. He did hang onto a few spare rotor vanes for the early blowers, but the main bits are NLA. I got this info directly from Mike himself.
Would it be possible to get a copy of the Norman sales brochure? I'd love to see it!
cheers

Hi Tony
Thanks for the info. I remember seeing the Bobcat in a show in Sydney and believe that is where I picked up the brochure. I recall the story re Mike continuing to make the blower after his fathers passing, but was that THAT long ago? Boy time goes quick. Not sure where the brochure is at the moment as I am between houses. Will try to locate it.
