Rob,

Can you confirm the shift pattern for the Speco shifter. I've driven an EH with an Impala shifter on a three speed all synchro, which worked as follows:

Neutral, centre position
1st, push down and forward
2nd, pull back, pop up through neutral and then back further
3rd, push forward from 2nd, straight through neutral.
Reverse, from neutral, push down and pull back.

All operations were in a straight line, but backwards and forwards, not like an auto.

If your Speco is like that, I'd be interested,

Regards

Edward

Hmmm.
It doesn't really say, but I will set it up (Being careful not to get it dirty), on a mootor gearbox I have in the shed. That will give me an idea of what it does.

Sorry for this spiel, but recently, I have had to deal with all of the above. I have checked & made sure my listings are in English, but still they persist in doing me wrong. I am not a prick, I am actually quite easy going, I just want to make it clear.

Good Luck with your sales

Ha ha, John Grin
I am sure there are some who would gladly place in that box!! But at least I got the point across.

Ed,
Got some bad news. I owe you one, as I would have made an awful mistake if I had sold the shifter. It seems to be just a standard Speco replacement floor shifter. I hooked it all up & it only really does the "H" pattern. Thanks for making me really check it out.

Rob,

That's a pity.

I have fond memories of driving the EH with the Impala shift, and had never seen another like it for a three speed, although I imagine they are out there.

Are you still going to sell the H pattern shifter, and if so, can you let me know the price?

I've been getting a bit carried away on my ute project, with the stripped timing gear resulting in a complete rebuild and sports upgrade to the old grey, so I thought it may be nice to back that up with a "sporty" floor shift. You know, really show those HSV boys up!  Grin

Hi Edward
Yes, I was a bit disappointed. I had a few of these I found in an old speed shop. There WAS 2 of the Impala Speed shifts in that bunch. One was for a 3 speed & one for a 4 speed. The four speed also had a reverse lockout. Both went to members of the club down here. The 4 speed one is being fitted to an FC ute.
When I saw "Speed Shift" on the instructions with this Speco, I thought "Wooooooooooo Hooooo", but it isn't the same as the Impala.
Pity!
I have relisted it & there is a "Buy it Now" price. If you want it, you can have a $20 discount.
It IS still a nice looking item!!

Rob am I just stupid or is the shifter no longer listed Huh  Did you take any pictures of the mechanism when you had it fitted?  I have an old three speed stick shifter here and would like to see if it is the same mechanism if you did.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Burnsy.
No mate, not stupid, it isn't listed anymore. It was on offer bor a $100 start bid, or you had the option to "Buy It Now" for $180. A fella down here did just that. He has been going nuts buying FE stuff lately & he was the one who also scored the FE Detroit Flash kit, the super rare "H" Fins for the FE FC & other goodies.
I am sorry, I didn't take any pictures, as he came around that night & picked it up. If you take a photo & email it to me, I can tell you if it is the same, as I remeber vividly.

Thanks Rob, the shifter I have is still sitting up the block, I will get it next time and grab a photo.  It was well and truly stuffed but like all things could be rebuilt with some time and patience, just thought I might suddenly be inspired to get that patience if the shifter was something special, otherwise someone else may want it to rebuild.  Most bolts and nuts were badly rusted and some had been tack welded as well, I also seem to recall that there was a bearing of some description in the linkages too.  It had an interesting knob on it - a piece of rod welded on like a T - Bar Wink
