G'day Guys

I found these photos in an old album at home, they feature my Grandad's FC wagon & his mates FE wagon during their family holidays in country NSW & Vic during 1960's.

I'd already owned my FC wagon for about 5 years before my Dad even told me (in 2002) that his Dad had owned this one.  I guess like anyone else, I'd love to know what happened to this car and to own it now (NSW BYP 460).

Cheers, Tim.

Here's two more photos of the same FC wagon.  The kids in the photos are my uncles (both 15 years older than me).  Got as much chance of finding that wagon as I do tracking down that pedal car!

No real help as far as tracking down the wagons, but NSW Club Member Ian O'Donnell has a Corsair Tan/India Ivory FC Special Sedan registered BYP-205.  It was probably registered at the same RTA office with a day or two of your dad's wagon.

Tim,

About three years ago I went in search of my Grandad's EK Wagon.  One of the things I did was front up to my local Roads and Traffic Authority branch.  I submitted the relevant Freedom of Information form requesting that my details be forwarded on to the last registered owner of the EK advising that I was searching for the vehicle.  I had the rego number and luckily the chassis number.  Its then up to the last registered owner to contact you if they are interested. It may be worth a go.  From memory it was about $30.

I'd last seen the EK in 1990 and luckily for me the search ended in success (I also had a number of other strong leads). I found it out the back of a pub in Wallerawang NSW where it had been sitting for about 10 years.

Hey Stewart....did you buy the wagon back.

Tim....cool shots.
I bet you were excited to find those.
My dad also had a wagon identical to your grandads. I might have to try to trace it down if it is still out there.
I only have 1 pic of it, and it is basically just the door, with dad hanging out and 3 of the 4 kids standin' there.
I will have to scan the pic some time. Dad did take lots of super8 movie footage, and I am sure the car would feature. I have been speaking to mum to get them out.
Regards

Thanks for the tip RET & Stewart, I'll see what I can track down from the RTA.  I know it remained in the Mendooran area of NSW after my Grandad got rid of it, but that's it for now.

Alex, I bet that super8 footage would be pretty cool to see too.  I was pretty stoked when I found these pics.  They were originally old slides stashed at my Nans place, that I later had printed as photos.  It wasn't long after I'd bought my 2nd FC and had no idea I wasn't the first in my family to own one.

Alex,

I sure did!  That next Saturday I hot footed it out to Wallerawang and in no time the EK was being trailored back to its rightful place - home.  After 10 years in the open weather it was in a bad way but there was no way I was walking away from it - too many memories and sentimental value to me.

The full history since 1962 of this EK will be in the September FB-EK Holden Car Club of NSW Newsletter.

Tim - another thing I did was ring all the wrecking yards in the general area I had last seen the EK.  I also asked lots of questions as they should have good local knowledge.

Hi Tim, Do you know much about the blue wagon in
the photo as it is the same as mine (fountain blue over
skyline blue). I purchased mine last year from Bowral.
It was originally sold from Bowral  Holden as it still has the service documents. It is in original cond.Could that
wagon be mine?

Jodstar,

There weren't that many made - anything's possible.  That was a pretty popular colour combination though.

A zoom-in on the photo suggests the rego of that wagon is BLI-475, although Tim could confirm that from the photo.  Does that tally at all with what's on your papers?

cheers

The rego number in the service autolog book is
BXM-868.The book is from my wagon as the chassis
number is also in the book.
