Any ideas on noisy tappets the old grey is in good nick generally no smoke or fumes runs smooth enough just a bit of tappet noise..This is my first grey motor, so is this parr for the corse.?

Hi Rod,
The tappets are adjustable Wink
Intake      .008 in Hot
Exhaust   .012 in Hot

Hi Rod,
Even when the tappets are adjusted correctly, you'll probably find that they'll be a bit noisy  :-/ , yeah it's quite normal for greys. You'll probably also find that there's some gudgeon knock/rattle at idle.

I guess that being a 1930's/40's design engine has it's drawbacks, but they're a pretty good ol' lump  Cheesy
