Are the dash surrounds available? or does someone have a contact where one can be purchased? or does someone out there have one for sale,

Rares now have the dash surround listed on their site with a price on an "order now" basis. They are very close to being ready now.

Hi All,
Has anyone received one of these yet?
I orderd one in May and the local RS supplier doesn't seem to know what's taking so long.
Cheers,
Phil

I approved the original prototype and a complete order was placed - when they arrived a trial fit was made to check that they were right and they were not right. The supplier had not reproduced the same quality that had been achieved on the prototype. So the whole lot were sent back for replacement. Still waiting for a new batch to arrive which hopefully will be better.
Can't do much about it really.

Thanks for the heads-up Ken.
No stress for me as I'm currently working on body and paint.
Cheers,
Phil

Rare Spares released the FC Dash Facia last week & I picked up a new one yesterday & returned it today as it did not fit correctly.
Has any one else purchased one of these in the last week & tried to fit it as they only had one other in store & it was the same as the one I returned.
I took in a complete dash panel with instruments with the original Holden facia to show the difference betwen the two & the staff also agreed that the new facia's were not correct & refunded my money & advised head office.
The moulding on the facia seems to be too deep & sits proud where it fits over the fuel & idiot light guage & does not fit flush enough onto the steel dash so that when mounted you can see the 2 top screw holes quite clearly & also the gaps around the guages.
It doesn't seem to fit too bad if no guages are fitted.
Just wondering what went wrong & hopefully we will have some soon that fit just perfect.
Rob.

hey i`d like to know this aswell as i`m the person who kindly lent their NOS dash surround to rares so they could get it reproduced . i know the first batch came through as a dud run . so does this mean the second batch has come through crap aswell ? or did some of the first batch filter through the system into a few of the rares out lets ?

I will ring next week & find out. I have not seen or approved a second batch yet.
It does sound like the second batch are not quite right though since the first batch wouldn't even screw to the dash.

Thanks guy's Funny that they were released with out running the new batch through you guy's for approval, I had one on order & received a call last week as they were ready.
They do screw to the dash now but just don't fit very well. The left & right screw holes above the fuel & light guage look to have been re located & have some sort of white body filler inserted to correct the screw hole location.
Have to wait & see what Ken finds out when he calls next week.

I am very disappointed with this outcome - apparently because the original was approved, the order cannot be returned. So the ones for sale are the ones that I have deemed no good. Now those of you who know me would know that I am a supporter of Rare Spares because the vast majority of the parts they sell are good value even though some need a little rework to fit precisely. HOWEVER, in this case I would suggest NOT buying this product because I do not believe it suits the purpose.

The repros are made of plastic - the same as original. Not fiberglass.

Hi guys I'm going to be needing a new surround when the wagon goes back together. I think mine is way beyond repair. Are there any on the market that fit properly ? Have Rare Spares fixed the problem ones ? Ta

These are now for sale at Rare Spares outlets. We have seen a new one at the club which looked reasonably good - once again it was not given to us to approve which is disappointing.

A follow up - there seems to be still some delays with these - I was informed that these were available but apparently they still are not at outlets.
Will make some calls and find out
