That's a cool colour pic.
I walk past there daily to get to and from work.
Taxis sure were colourful back in 55.

But are any of those three 'pretty' cars a taxi?  I think not, they are painted in some of the 'liveries' that some cars had hoisted on them by their owners.

I would be pretty sure they are all taxis, small companies didn't have the light on top so used the colourful paint so that customers could easily see them

What a great photo! I agree with Ken that they are definetly taxis the small operators in the 50's did not use the dome light or sign writing as the regulations were a lot slacker and permits much easier to get. Often certain color combos would work in certain areas and people would get to know them and as such use them when in need of a Taxi. The Morris oxford in use as a Taxi in the photo is still used in India as a main player in there current taxi fleet with a few modifications but still the same body shape and motor.
