I'm thinking of using an X2 induction setup on the FE's 161.  I've got teh lot, just needs a little bit of a polish.

Currently, the air filter housing has an old Ryco A326 Elelment, which I think is too large, being about 12 1/4" diameter where teh air filter housing base is 12" diamelter.  I'm thinking of using a 250 CID Cortina Element so that air can flow all the way around the element rather than being forced to go through the bit adjacent to the trumpet.

What elelment should I use?

Cheers

G'day Spinner,
I've just gone through the same hassle and you've a better chance of finding rocking horse shite that the original. What you suggested with the Cortina element is the go. I can't remember what brand it was but one has a harder rubber seal/casing than the other so you need to make sure you get the one with a soft rubber seal because it's slightly larger than the cleaner top and you need to squish the edge of the element in a bit. Once it's past the bottom edge of the top housing it fits luvely.
cheers,
Leigh
