Back on the topic of reassembling the FE Grille.
Would I be fair in assuming that the grill surround and separators are not going to line up perfectly?
Either that or  my chrome plater stuffed up or it requires a bit of force to get things in position.

It is fairly common practise for NOS parts to not line up well on reassembly.  But rechromed original pieces should line up as well as before.
To get a top finish you may have to carefully trim some bars here and there to make it fit better.
On the NOS grille in my green FC, I had to trim every bar and the park lights to make the grille fit perfectly.
Hope this helps

Thanks Ken
I can't vouch for the origin of the grille, it came with car loosely bolted in, plus I didn't take note when pulling it apart.
