Since there has been some talk about quad headlights and HQ taillights of late, I thought I might share this pic of an EK that incorporates both. From an article in Custom Rodder, Aug 75.

Whoa! That is definately what you would refer to as "An aquired taste"!  Shocked
But, I think I have seen that same car in a slightly different style. I haven't got the magazine handy, but it was on the cover or in a Street Machine magazine from the late 80's, titled Golden Holdens, or Golden Oldies, or something like that. It was sporting a flip front with original style lights, but still had the HQ tail lights (I think). The grille & rear beaver where very similar. The car was painted yellow & I think it was running a 327 Chev. But again, I am not 100%. I will look for the mag tonight.

Nope,
I was wrong. I have the Street Machine here. It is Oct-Nov 1986. The car IS an EK sedan, with the rear treatment exactly the same, but with WB lights fitted. The front is a steel flip front, but it is a four door, where as the one Alex posted is a 2 door. Also, the fella claimed to have totally built it himself. Also, the rear flares a bloody similar.

Alan Hales Black, V8 FC225 is in the same magazine.

It doesn't seem to like being shrunk, as it comes out a bit spotty. If interested in the bigger version, email me.

If you have ever wondered what "descreen" is in your scanner settings, then this is a perfect example. Not sure why the magazine pics do it, probably the printing process, but playing with descreen settings will elliminate the patchiness.

A tip I got from Gree to fix this is to scan the pic crooked, then use Photoshop or whatever to straighten it again.  That works well too.

As Glenn surmises, it is indeed to do with the printing process.

cheers

Hi.
Odd thing is, when at standard size, it is perfect & clear. Only when I shrunk it down did it go spotty.
Thanks for the tips though, I will utilise them in future.

Rusty
Never say sorry it is a sign of weakness, and as we all know FE's & FC's are what this forum is all about.

Hi,
Thanks for the comfort, John. I feel a lot better (I think?). I do still have healthy Holden to ford ratio (4 to 1), so I haven't deserted the flock completely. To be honest, I really only got the XK because it is such good condition & has the Autolux Flash Kit. I love those kits!

Kiwi,
A Ford Taurus? Hmmm, yes, we had them here in Oz, but they were a bit of a disaster. So maybe just tell them you have a Ford, but don't mention the model!!

Rusty
I knew we would get a rise out from both Rob & Craig.

I will however say Craig sent me a couple of photos of a very nice FB the other day (thanks Trev).
