Hey Shayne,
With regard to Wintersun, all I can say is.. "Possibly"
I'm certainly hoping so. My painter mate is working quick.
All panels are at sand blaster today. The body will go to the blaster next week. So..... fingers crossed.
Either way, I'll be there with "Harvey" so we'll catch up with the Sarge.

The sandblaster dude did a real good job. My panel beater was very happy.
I was a bit nervous after I asked the question on this site and received some warnings about the process.
He uses a real fine black rutile sand and understands the need to be gentle in some areas. He backs off the pressure if he is worried about warping at all. He will tell u straight up if he has any concerns about warping etc.
He is a Camaro enthusiast and has 3 in various states of restoration all of which have been sandblasted.
I'll wack his details on the site in the area that sarge n RET are working on.

This shot shows some of the less drastic rust probs at the back. Others are obviously more serious.

Gday EMU
Was wondering if u could give me the name of the guy you got to sandblast your car. Like you I was having second thoughts about getting mine sandblasted after what I have seen from streetneat and the other people who have commented on it. But I am also in queensland and would be interested to go and have a talk to this guy.
Thanks mate
MICK

Hey Mick, Somehow I missed this post. The guy who blasted was recently on the news coz the government bought the land for the c4 Tugun By-Pass route. The stupid thing is, the road won't be built for 2-3 years but they gave him two weeks notice to vacate so they could leave the land feral!!! he's presently looking for a suitably remote piece of land to set up. Sorry I took so long to reply. I'll post info when or if he relocates. Emu

Well..... getting back to Hilda. We came to a bit of a crossroads when my mate Kev, the painter and I hit the serious rust repair needs. I have a very good friend who specialises in restoring old cars and was prepared to help us out with Hilda. Unfortunately he fell pretty ill, so we were stuck. Through a series of circumstances, my old second-in-charge from the famous OZ vs Kiwi Rugby wars, Sarge, who lives 2 minutes down the road, happened to mention his former life as a fitter/welder. Well!!!!!.................. Now isn't that interesting says I!!!! Semi-retired are ya? mmmmmmmm. Well here's a couple of shots of the latest progress on Hilda. Shot one shows Kev the painter on the left and yes...... there he is....... the FAMOUS... Sarge in all his glory. What a legend!! A Guru in fact. Possibly even a Saviour! Messiah could be getting carried away. While I'm typing he's welding. "Five minute break in 2 hours Sarge" Hang in there!

Here's a couple of pics of the rear guards that required a lot of work after the Dynamic Duo have done their stuff. If you compare with the earlier pics in this thread you will appreciate the work. An awful lot of work was done on the invisible side too. How good does that look! Emu - Happy Bird
