My parents had an FC (Qld rego NCJ 305).  I always thought it was a 1957 model.  Someone has told me that the FC was not produced until 1958.  Is this true? Thanks

The FC's birthday is 6 May 1958.  She'll be 43 in a couple of weeks!
All bodystyles (Sedan, Wagon, Ute and Van) were released on the same date.  It's the FEs that are all over the place:  Sedans: July 56, Ute and Van: Feb 57, Wagon: Aug 57.  The wagon was replaced by the FC version just 9 months later, which explains why FE wagons are so very very rare.
hope that helps, RET

My FC is also May 58. The body style is represented in the letters next to this. A Special is 225 . I would be guessing at the others. The letter that comes next indicates factory location S = Sidney etc.

Cheers

Chris

These are the other body-style codes in lieu of Chris' message...

215 Standard Sedan
217 Business Sedan
219 Standard Wagon
225 Special Sedan (As posted by Chris)
229 Special Wagon
2104 Panelvan
2106 Utility

Hope this helps anyone who needs it Smiley

Chris, I saw that you have a May 1958 FC, I would appreciate it if you could supply the ID plate and chassis number details as I am always keen to find either very early or very late FE's and FC's.

HI
Could any one tell me the number of FC-225 bodies were produced from 1958 on.
Because my car has a high build No,3246-M and it made me wonder how many were built.   Huh

Digger,  there were approximately 30,500 FC 225's built in Melbourne, yours is quite low.  If you provide me with the full vehicle ID plate details and chassis number, I can tell you exactly when it was made.   If anybody else has the same requirement, I am more than willing to help with info, but I don't want to publish on the web at this stage, since I am writing a book about the FE and FC Holden with this info as one of the key chapters.

Anybody who has car details that I have not seen, I am always on the lookout for more info to help with data.  I especially need the rarer models such as standard sedan standard wagon and business sedan from Queensland and western australia

I can be contacted on ken@vic.fefcholden.com.au

Many thanks     Ken
