Having pulled the vent window handle off , and refitted it, all it wants to do now is rotate and not lock in any position. Is there any knack in alignment or anything in fitting these handles?

Hey sgo, From memory there are supposed to be two lugs on the button. When you press the button in, it disengages from the two corresponding grooves in the handle, allowing it to turn. If the handle were forced without pressing the button in first, it may have sheared the lugs off the button?

Spot on Gary! A closer look at the buttons shows only half a lug on each side of the button. Must be time I got some glasses.
Anyway, If anyone has a pair of vent window handle buttons available, please let me know.
Thanks, George.

Hi.
The FE FC FB & EK had really weak lugs on those buttons. It was fixed in the EJ & EH models, which can be modified to suit. I did it on my FC wagon, as both sides where knackered. I got them out of an EH wreck. You have to file out the slots on your 1/4 vent window lug (The knob bit that you put all this stuff on).
Just file a little at a time & test it by placing the EH one in, to see if it fits. Then when it is all dandy, bung it together with a bit of grease (Not the type that goes gluey after awhile). They are a heap stronger & mine have lasted very well, even with my kids hanging of them when they try to open them.
Goodluck.
