Here's a beautiful pic of one of the official 1956 Melbourne Olympic FE sedans, with hostess driver. There was a line of these cars on the day, others can be seen in the background and in the reflections.
This pic was released by Holden during the lead up to the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Not FE FC, but interesting all the same. A parade of 1000 Police through Melbourne on 21st Nov 1956, part of the Olympic celebrations.

How about some pics of the Torch relay as it passes through Cairns. The FE as well as the truck were a part of the relay.

Here are a few more pics of FE holdens used during Melbourne Olympics.  Plate number 139 is the same vehicle as pictured above in the Holden advert for Sydney 2000 Olympics.

The next two show a different FE with plate 192.  This one with the vehicle being refuelled before going out is my favourite.

Plate 192 on FE again.  This is a newspaper article from Sydney Olympics.  This woman (Doreen) was a volunteer FE Holden Driver in 1956, and then volunteered in 2000.   Shocked  Don't know if she was driving an FE in Sydney though

This picture may have been on here before in one of Alex's broken links.

Shows FE holden (plate number ?343) during Torch Relay.

Just to stop everyone thinking that only FE Holdens were used during the Games in 1956, apparently there were 121 cars of which 20 were Holden sedans.  Others used were Humbers, Austins, Morrises, Customlines, Dodges, Plymouths, De Sotoes, Rovers, and VW Kombis.  Something in that list for everyone Huh

Would be nice to have one of these Olympic plates, wouldn't it?

Cool pics Shayne.
I had not seen the 1 of the woman holding the flag before. Interesting to note is that the flag on the car in that pic is different to the 1 at the top, yet they seem to be the same car.

well spotted Alex.  The flags are different (not sure why in this case), but there is actually a 3rd type also (sponsored by RACV).  Apparently the flags (pennants for those in the know Wink) kept getting pinched off the vehicles, so it is quite possible that it was replaced with one of the different varieties.  The women used to remove them and lock them in the boot when they were away from the cars.  Another possibility is that there were different flags for different 'tasks' such as transporting athletes, dignitaries or politicians.
Also note that the pennant in the FE in the torch relay is mounted on the roof.  Maybe we should 'flag' this post as a hot topic Tongue Grin
