Ok , Guys & Gals
       Plenty of "input" here ....

     YELLOW   or    BLACK

I'll be getting the "Beast" resprayed soon ...   and was thinking about a change in colour , who likes Yellow & who likes Black ,      let me know.

This car belonged to John Bourke in the early 70's and looked "so good" in Black . (close look , back doors welded in to save weight)

If it stays yellow you need an 18" wide black racing stripe right down the middle, or how about black with a yellow stripe???
Or maybe..........................

    Daaa ,  Thanks RET,
I should have thought of that .... but it was late last night , wasn't thinking straight.

Hey Nicko , afraid she's a bit faded and got a fair bit of "cracked bog" since that pic was taken , it spent a few years "sitting in a paddock" when I moved to the country , but still no serious rust.   :-/

I've voted Black, but I am biased Smiley
Get a good car cover to stop the dust when it is sitting doing nothing though, I think black attracts the dust particles.

Do the doors open now?

Can u unweld a door?

I voted Black but I do like that yellow too. A bit less common. So yellow, but that Black LOOKS fast. So Black. But there is that dust problem, so definitley yellow.

or black.

I hope I've helped!

G;day Norm my old mate,
Well the "phantom" reckons that you should change that yellow colour to PURPLE the same colour as RUSTY"S car.
                                                     Cheers Rusty.
ps do you want me to send another pic of the purple machine?

I like the yellow it makes your car stand out in the crowd and the old girl has been that colour for years and she does have a fair bit of black paint any way.

I think the yellow for its history, after all, It was yellow when I was a primary school kid drooling over it at the Blacktown festival.
The yellow wont blend into the blacktop so much when all the other racers look into the rear vision mirror to see you screem up behind them before passing them, gives em time to make space.

Geez,

Yer make it so easy....

Thought about combining the yellow & black, with some red too?  Black 'guards, red doors, yellow roof... You get the idea. Grin Grin

Seriously, the yellow colour is less common that black so that is a good reason for yellow.  Add a double black GT Stripe from bumper to bumper, over the bonnet, roof & boot, about 1/3 of the width in from the left or right.  The stripes can be the same size and spacing as on a HK GTS.  Period look for period performance...

Hi Ya Mick
Don't think it makes much difference , the car was a shocking  "Olive Green with Orange wheels" , when I bought it .
Never won anything when it was Green , never won anything when it was Yellow,  BUT never came last either  Grin

Sorry Rusty
Forgot to answer your post , "There's Only One Phantom Mobile"  Grin

   Spinner
Yea ,  have been thinkin of mixing the two , Yellow /balck stripes or black with yellow stripes . Years ago you weren't allowed to advertise on race cars , so , I think it was Castrol used to sponsor cars if they painted 2 green stripes over the centre of the car , does anyone know what the blue stripes were ?

Norm,

I'm changing my vote too.

I'm a crazy sentimentalist, new age, sensitive kind of a flightless bird. I thought it had been both black and yellow at various times of its racing history, but now that u've cleared that up.

Also, since the bloody Kiwi wants it black in deference to some poofy, loser Rugby team with a pretty fern as their emblem.......

Go yellow!

Emu - No longer equivacting nor ambivalent, sensitive, new age, sentimental, flightless bird with much more fashion sense than the Kiwi.
