An interesting little advert found in the Aust Readers Digest, December 56 or 57. (Sorry, no year on page). This ad is interesting for a couple of reasons.
1. It features a photo image of the rear of an FE sedan. I can't recall another taken from this angle. There are a few drawn or painted images showing shots of the rear of an FE, a few with wagons or utes, and a many FC's!
2. This is an advert that I only recently acquired, and the interesting thing is that until this copy, I had never seen this advert before (or the photo), since becoming interested in them about 15+ years ago.
What a great pic it is...car loaded with friends driving on dirt roads......with the urge to go places.

Regards
Alex

Hey Alex
Great Ad mate,   maybe they were aiming at the "country person" around that time most roads out of towns were dirt , unless it was the highway. The road I lived on , the Tar finished at the town outskirts (60 mph sign)       :-/ :-/ :-/          yea , afraid I was around then .

The size of the stainless trim on the back window should tell you whether it's '56 or '57. You can't tell from this scan, but you might be able to on the original.

With that many people in the car, on that dirt road, since the back windscreen hasn't fallen out, it probably is a '57 Grin

cheers

GNO number plate indicates June/July '56 issue so it would be an early car. My new FE is GNS number plate which is late August '56

I have a copy of this advert that has "December" on the printed material on the back.  Presumably Dec '56.  The same car appeared in another black & white advert in the Readers Digest.  Again, no date on the actual ad, but the back of that one says January.

Cheers
