Scored this advert recently. It is a large format 2 page advert from the Australian Woman's Weekly, August 29 1956. That's not too long after the release of the FE, and fittingly features pictures from the official launch. I have a single page advert featuring the same pic, posted earlier.

Alex

I find this pic interesting. Check out the roof.....they forgot to colour it red. I wonder if this is an error in the printing process or if these pics were hand coloured. Perhaps it was deliberately left without colour?

Alex,

They're beautiful photos.  Not unlike another magazine cover published here with an obvious colour fault, I'm strongly of the opinion that these things were hand coloured from black and white originals.  The fleshtones of the model suggest that, too.

Someone like Les would be able to say for sure.

Note the body-coloured steering column, a feature of 1956 FEs that was subsequently dropped for basic black.

cheers

Thats correct Alex, Lindsay did paint it, I recall remarking what a good looking mat, I think he said he used vinyl paint & then spattered it with some black to give it that authentic look.
For what it's worth I still have the remnants of the original green mat that was on the front floor of my FE,along with some awkwardly tailored Westminster carpets that were in both front & rear.

FE's certainly did have red mats- and blue mats and green mats. They were coloured to match the interior.
