Last week i had dismantled my tail lights to tidy them up
and replace the seals after a good 44 years of service.
The plastic indicators and stop peices were very dull from years
of UV abuse (Just a tip for those who don't know, I use Brasso
and a ragg, It brings them back to new). Now Murphy's law
would have it to drop one of the tail lens and break it of which
i did and produce words i have never spoken. So after purchasing two new lens from R Spares i had a very close
inspection and comparison of both new and original lens to find
they are from the same moulds after 44 years! Is this the same
for other products they produce?

Are we talking about the brake light or reversing light?  Because the red lenses are definitely not made from the same mould as the original.  Are you sure the ones in your car are the very original ones?

Original ones have the word "HOLDEN" embossed on them in a semi-circle on the reflector part.  Repro ones do not, and as a general rule do not last anywhere near as long as the originals.

Hope that helps,
