Here are a few pics from an old Australian Rodding World, April 1966. The dragstrip is Brooksfield in South Australia. The caption says the FE sedan was owned by D. Troubridge, and I. Hawke owned the "BP Moobury Ute". The sedan took out this race, and looks to be well on the way to winning the second race also.

Here's the same FE, which looks to be a standard sedan with Tilly's "Detroit" flash, up against the then new HD Holden. No details on who won this race.

Your right 6' tall and bullit proof. Even though my frist 1/4 mile drag was with a not so new HR Priemer Sedan. Worked 186 4 sp gearbox & a piece of 2'' 8g tin as a tailshaft strap.
Funny how time (age) take's the bounce out of the springs. Now I find my-self thinking before acting, where-as back then I would be thinking while I was acting.
Normaly thinking things like OH SH*T I HOPE THIS WORKS. for if not I can put my head between my knee's & kiss my arse good-bye. Oh & I would  be hoping that it looked good infront of my mate, & that the girl where also watching. But it was fun. Still is just a bit slower now, that way one can enjoy the moment that little bit longer.  Wink
