The attached image was featured in the Business&Money section of the Weekend Edition of the Sydney Morning Herald, October 25-26, 2003.
What an image of an FE is doing in a mixed metaphor of a 'clapped out VW' and a 'spanking new BMW' I do not know.
Page 53 did not throw any light on the subject.
Interesting...........way to managed funds?

I'd lay money that photo is a crop of one of Les Hewitt's photos from the 2001 Nationals.  The FE in question is John Wanner's convertible, and here is the original photo.

Given that SMH is published by Fairfax just as the Aust Financial Review is, and Les works for AFR, perhaps he can shed more light on how the photo got in the paper.  Maybe Les slipped it in in place of the beat-up Volksy Grin

cheers

Geez Geoff, you've got a good eye....!! I went and found a copy of the above clipping, and boy it's small...!!

And Richard is right on all accounts, it is my shot, and it is of John Wanner's FE at the 2001 Nationals.

As for how it ended up in a pointer like that is anyones guess, but I imagine the Sub-editor started looking for a pic of a hood or bonnet, and somehow finished up with this pic.... being so small, they probably figured no-one would be able to read the "Holden" letters on the badge...
Either that, or they thought people like us who own fine pieces of FE and FC Holden machinery like that, they must be well-off enough to be interested in investing...  Grin  how little they know!

This is how it appears in our "Newslink" system (where the sub got it from)... I guess the "Bonnet" word brought it up....

I had cropped the number plate off, just in case it got a run in the paper one day.... I didn't think John would want his plate splashed all over Oz. The AFR ran it once back in June 1999, but much bigger!!

Cheers
Les....

This reminds me, not long after I got a loan to do up and buy my first FE when I was 18, I thought I started a new trend as I noticed posters in the bank of FE holdens.
The poster was promoting loans to do up a old holden!
A couple of times I nearly asked for a spare poster but never got around to it.

Cheers
