Thanks Ace.

Any clues as to date?  I notice it is advertised as GM, not GMH even though they call it Holden engine.

must be one of those rare canadians.  :-/ :-/

???do you think the engine from one of the Canadian Hell Drivers EKs would be a canadian block? Grin Wink

Hi.
The "Canadian Hell Drivers" all used the "Alloy Canadian Big Block Grey". It was much lighter than the standard Grey, weighing in at only 30kg. That is why the cars could jump sp high.
That is also one of the reasons they were discontinued from production in the street cars. There was just too many accidents. Everytime someone went over a speed hump, the car would launch 20 feet into the air. All that power & such a light block was a very dangerous combination.
Also, the Canadian blocks are very easy to spot when in a car. They have the same "Oil bath" air cleaner, but because they were so fast, the had to use some other substance, that didn't slop around as much as the oil. Canada, Canadian,= MAPLE SYRUP!!!
Yes, that is 100% correct. They used Maple Syrup in the oil bath cleaners. That is the REAL reason they were referred to as the "Canadian" motors!! True!! Grin

Rob J

p.s. John, I am sure ACE will get a shot of his new "Canadian" as soon as he gets a chance. What do you reckon, ACE??? Wink

Whoa, Nicko!!
Bit shirty are we??
Let me clarify to everyone, Nickos "Problem" with me.
He bought a set of triple SU carbs on a Monaro Motors manifold, to "Put on his car" for $150. (Bargain price)
My description to him was "That they would need a full kit through them", but had the chrome velocity stacks with them.
He got them & was not happy. Why? Because they needed new seals & needles. Roll Eyes (What the hell did you think a "Kit" was?)
He would have spent a total of $50 on new gaskets & within 2 days, he had listed them on Ebay. He proceeded to sell them for $350.
Still not happy?, Go figure.
I reckon you should let it go, NICKO!!

Look at my feedback on Ebay, smartarse.

Ace, I am sorry I hi-jacked your thread.

Rob J

p.s. Here is the exact line I just copied out of the original email I sent him.

"Yes, I have 3 sets left.
One is a set of era racing SU's on a Monaro Motors Manifold. All linkages, Ram tubes & Velocity stacks included. Good condition, but of course would require a kit through all carbs $200 ono"

Note the last line!!

the slides were stuffed on two carbs, and it was missing one of the custom made choke arms and i spent over $90 plus luckily for me a good mate had a nice su to replace the one that was good for bin only, and a collection of slides and other bits that we mixed and matched, if i had to buy all parts to repair or replace useless ones it would have cost more than original price,no one minds a kit but replacing whole carbs and slides is a bit over the top,and they were put on ebay when i knew we had all the parts to fix over the week of auction with my mate getting half of price as they were worthless otherwise,so no i lost money in the end with promise to myself never to buy anything from Tasmania again.

I'm going to ask both of you to take it outside, all right?

Nicko,  it's not appropriate to leave snide feedback here.

OK, that was me wearing my moderator's hat.

Now, speaking personally:

For what it's worth I've been happy with the things I've bought from Rob, as have others I know.
Quote
...and they were put on ebay when i knew we had all the parts to fix over the week of auction...

If you went to the trouble of fixing them up, why would you not use them?  Unless you never had the slightest intention of "putting them on your car", as you told Rob.  It smells like profiteering, and I don't have much sympathy.

cheers

Still awaiting the photo of the canadian alloy big block to be posted Cool

Ps All the bits I have purchased of Rob in the past have been as described if not better, and I for one would purchase more from Tassie, even if they do have two heads etc. Grin

Muster Kiwi,
I am writing slow coz I know u guyz can't read real fast.

Nicko has one of the manifolds, but I am assuming from this thread that Rob has many more 4 sale.

I know its risky buying from a Taswegian, but who would buy anything, other than a wool product, from a Kiwi!!!

Actually, do u really have a Monaro Manifold with Carbs?

I'll PM ya.

Go Tonga!!

Emu, Slayer of undersized Kiwis.

P.S. Ya new pic looks great. Craig A does great work eh?
