Awesome Alex, Kinda looks like the era carried a theme of Paddock basher but roadworthy. Well at least thats what it reminds me of ,I could see it with the mud terrains on in the tractor pull arena

Thanks Norm. Hey Harko.....funny you should say that. Did you know that "The Shark" started out as a speedway racer? The owner, John Hughson came across it in a paddock and paid $300 for the chopped shell. It used to be a speedway racer at Mallala race track, outside of Adelaide. Regards Alex

Alex, do you have a pic of The Shark with it's teeth?
Originally it had sharks teeth in the grille. Not for very long though as it was kinda gross.
I think I have a pic somewhere, I will try and find it.

i remember sitting in a car that looked remarkedly alike in 1986 in a family friends house just outside the city in Adelaide it had flame job and horrid teeth in grill,it had been sitting there unregistered for a couple of years,it belonged to girlfriends brother, unfortuneatly ive long since lost contact with the family after a bit of an argument, only i could have sworn the chop was more severe as the windscreen was only about 8 or nine inches high

Ken....where's that pic with the teeth? Nicko....I believe the car you are refering to is a different FE. I have pics of that car, but taken at night, so not the clearest.....look out for them soon. In the mean time, here's a pic of the Shark at Narranderra Rod Run 1973. Was only a small pic, but it is colour and the car is the same as in Norm's pic above. Regards Alex

Sorry about the size of the pic - more learning neccesary. Forgot to add - the pic is from Custom rodder no 21. Feb/Mar 1974. The later pics without the teeth come from 1976. I have the same photos without the teeth in a publication entitled "Holden Specials" dated 1976

the shark is not the same car,the black one with the the vinyl roof is the car that a guy from Adelaide with a surname of Colyton,(not sure of spelling) was the owner in 1983 or 1984 his dad gave it to him,but as he was unemployed he might have sold it on , but it had teeth in grill

Is that me in the Naranderra pic. Oh nah it couldnt be I wasnt born yet Man those guys went the hard yards in those days ,That FB has been channeled ,you can see the shorter fins and wheel arches seem way higher up the body. And that yellow 39 with flames still gets around today ,What a credit to the builder and I hope that the builds I complete in my lifetime last half as long - Id be a happy chappy.

I just found this old thread about "The Shark". Sadly most of the pictures seem to be gone. I would like to see them if they can be reserrected as a friend of mine currently owns "The Shark". He saved it from a wrecker a few years ago, they were about to stack another car on top of it. It is a bit worse for wear but better than it would have been if the wreckers had had their way with it. I will see if I can get a picture to post as it is now, if he will let me.

Hey Robin. I heard the car was saved from the crusher. Good to hear that is the case. I would love to see current pics of the car. I will see what I can do about the other pics in the thread, they went with the old forum. Regards Alex
