Who makes the best rubber kits?

Who makes the best rubber kits? i.e. fit, quality, etc

Does any body have any experience with the any of the above kits? What problems have been encountered etc when fitting these kits?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bryan,

Rare Spares and Spectrum are generally the same nowadays. Some rubbers are different (inner door rubbers) but Spectrum are just selling Rares stuff. The rest I'm not sure of but others will have experience.

From what I have seen there are NO rubber kits that fit, just one's that can be made to fit  

I put Rares Rubbers in my car and it doesn't leak, the doors shut OK, the boot shuts with minor persuasion, and they look good. The 1/4 window upright rubber is the worst of the lot, it's not even close to the original, but again with some fiddling its "OK".

This topic has been discussed many many times on the forum so do a search, read up, and you'll end up with something that'll do the job.

A word of advice though, take your time and make sure get someone to help you, preferably someone who has done the job recently. Another reason to join a club.

I posted one called rubber Kits in July, again just a bit further below this one, which attracted some interesting replies including one from the Cheif of Rare Spares.

CraigA mentioned some fiddling to improve the fit of the vent window upright seal, could you give a bit of info on what needed doing?
I'd appreciate any info as fitting them is on my list of things to do.

I have personally never had a problem with this piece - this is how I fit it.
Fit the snap in rubber to the quarter vent frame and fit the window with the new rivet supplied in the kit.
Fit the entire quarter vent window to the car
Fit the bailey channels, glass & belt strips
Adjust the quarter vent, etc until all fits well.
Trim the upright rubber to the correct length for a good fit in the space provided.
place the glue on the rubber upright and push into place, then close the quarter vent window onto the rubber being carefull not to roll it or bend it.
The rubber will now seal in place and will suit the quarter vent window perfectly.
