Hi there
I am not a car buff and have absolutely no idea what kind of Holden ute I have - all I know is it is an '56 FC Holden Ute.  I have owned it for about 6 years and did have every intention to have it restored but can't really afford to now - I brought it when I was at Uni - I just loved the look of it.
It's not really very original anymore - I had it changed from a manual to automatic transmission, it has a newish motor (no idea what!), not the original steering wheel.  But it looks good - it's a pale pink and has lots of shiny bits!  I think it has quite a bit of rust underneath and unfortunately is not registered!  I started it up about two weeks ago - first time in about two years and it took a bit to get going, but in the end it sounded perfect.
I probably haven't painted such a good picture - but all I can say is it is a very cool car and as much as I hate to part with it, I think unless I knew someone that was happy to tinker with it (unfortunatley none of my friends are mechanically minded!), it will just sit there for another 6 years!
If anyone is interested call me on my mobile 0419 983 530 or by return e-mail.  (I'm in the South Perth area).
PS I don't even know what a good price is - so am open to offers!
Thanks, Mandy

Wow - South Perth.  I guess you wont get many people from the Eastern states coming to look at the car.  Hopefully some WA readers will get in touch.  Unfortunately the one thing you do know about the car is not right, since the FC model ran from May 1958 to 1959.  The FE ute also only ran from early 1957 to May 1958.  Are you sure it is an FE or FC and not an FJ which were made in 1956.       Ken

Hi Ken I'm not really sure about the year - I had a look on my old registration papers and it definatley has the year as 1956 - but for the make it just has Holden, next to the Chass it says FE2106 - does that mean it's an FE or maybe they've just got the date wrong. I told you I didn't know anything about cars! Anyway hopefully someone will respond and come and have a look. Thanks Ken Mandy

Hi Mandy,
The code FE-2106 does indeed mean that it is an FE Utility.  However, the first of these were not produced until February 1957, so your rego papers are probably incorrect in that regard, and they wouldn't be the first ones to be wrong either.  Now that you have the correct details, post a notice on the Cars for Sale page of these discussion boards.
cheers RET

Mandy,  I'm interested to know whether your ute was made earlier than 1957. Can you find the chassis number on the engine bay skirt. It would either be on the step near where the battery is or on the drivers side skirt on the top step near the wiring harness.  It should start with a 7 if it was built in 1957 or a 6 if it was built in 1956. It should end in a letter such as P, A, S or M.  Information from the body plate on the firewall would be helpful as well     Regards   Ken
