FC Holdens & Mini Coopers....Cars of the Century

THIS IS FOR REAL !

But, I must explain.........I am posting this notice on behalf of a fellow Holden enthusiast who is not on-line, therefore, I have not personally seen this motor, but the owner does know what he is on about and will find a photo of the motor to prove it's genuine.

It is an original Canadian Motor ( green ) with the GMH round logo on the side of the block.

It came out of an FX VAN some years ago, and has been sitting idle ever since.......apparantly it's not running and not that pretty to look at, however, he does believe it still turns over and able to be reconditioned.

Now I'm new to all this HISTORY stuff, but I do know that these are apparantly quite rare.

He is open to offers, so if you are interested and want to know more, or make an offer, feel free to reply to this post or if you want to talk private, email me at markh@mccays.com.au

I'm not sure if TREV (Robbz58) knows about this one or not, and yes, it is in WA !

Anyone interested ?

Mark.
I have one of those sitting in my shed. It is not a "Canadian", they do not exist. It is just an early Holden block with the GMH cast into the side.
This fella may be pulling your leg, as you may or may not know, there is no such thing as an FX Panelvan. Hmmm, watch out mate, the jokers are out there & love to pray on innocent minds Grin

Tell him, I will give him mine as a swap & $100,000 for his FX Panelvan, as long as he can prove they are real.
Regards,
Rob J

You may be right Rob.......like I said...I don;t know what the story is with "Canadian" stuff, but this guy said he pulled it out of what he thought was an FJ van, but his wife swears it was an FX......I'll let him know, or should I say...educate him !

He did tell me, that there were less than 1000 of these motors ever brought into australia......he has been collecting Early Holden stuff for years, and I've been playing with Early holdens for about 6 months, so I guess I'm as green as a leaf......talk about Mini Coopers, and I could bore you to tears with stories and info, but old Holdens....still learning.

Having' said all that....are these engines rare at all and what are they worth ?

Cheers

Hi Mark.
Mini Cooppers?? Man, they are great. My cousin (a LOT oolder than me) had one (Genuine) when I was a kid. He used to rocket around the place with us in the back, flogging anyone who dared take him on. Being a great little car had something to do with it, but I think it was the fact that he had no fear whatsoever!! NONE at all. I actually wonder how the hell I survived some of his "Spins". That car?  Don't know what happened to it. Mikey died very young & the car was sold.

As for the Canadian, you may want to check this thread out. Caution though, it gets a bit heated in parts!!

http://www.fefcholden.org.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=general;action=display;num=1059107137;start=0

Long & short of it is this.. There was a different casting of the Grey motor, but there were NEVER anny "Canadian" blocks built or installed in any Holden. I still have the "Reward" for a bloke who was determined to find one & could prove it was real. Money still stands.

Can you call this fella & get the engine number (Down near the dizzy hole)? It would ID it properly.
Regards,
Rob J

there is a 'CANADIAN BLOCK' for sale in JUST PARTS Magazine this month for $6000.
Sorry I forgot to write down the phone number, but if you can afford to pay that for a worn out grey motor, I reckon you can pay $3.45 for the magazine.

PS, if they are sold out at the newsagent, I'll sell you my copy for $150.00 + GST!

KIWI,
that trick canadian grey air cleaner looks pretty schmick, but the engine would be worth a lot more in an early FX, rather than a FE or FC ute/van Wink
what colour is that engine painted - canadian winter?  looks nice.

PS- glad to see you enjoyed you WA visit.

It's actually a prototype MOO-LOO UTE VOLUMETRIC EFFEICIENCY AIR INTAKE SYSTEM (VEAIS) as found years ago at a GMH Dealership.
I've kept it all this time to fit to an FC ute which i purchased 4 weeks ago.
It's a shame the original paint and decals have perished, but at least i've got one, its rarer than a Canadian Block, and thanks to Kiwi for posting the photo.
All i have to do now is find a MOO-LOO tailgate with a recessed provision fof the number plate.
