Fitting a New Roof Lining

Hi all,

I am in the process of fitting a new roof lining. So far I have the lining fitted with the bows in place and clipped around the front and rear windscreens.

The fit from front to rear is satisfactory but I can see that in the area near the top of the doors, particularly the rear doors, even when it is pulled tight to the alligator teeth, there will be loose-ish material between the bows.

Would careful application of heat cause the vinyl to shrink a bit and tighten up?

I use a small Karcher steam cleaner (for bathrooms and tiles, etc..) with the fabric cover over the outlet, works a treat.

Thanks Gman, sounds like a good idea - a nice way to control the amount of heat. And do you find that the heat tightens up the vinyl?

Clothes steamer from big w or the like works well about $50. Steam and heat alone won't shrink the material. The way to do it is heat then stretch the material into place sort of ironing the wrinkles out with more heat/steam, then when it cools it pulls a little tighter.
