Way back in 2006 the Vic club ran the FE FC nationals in Phillip Island. As well as the 50th anniversary of the FE, It so happened to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Melbourne Olympics.
I had this idea to make an olympic torch out of FE parts and send it around Australia to the different clubs so it could be photographed in various scenic places and then finally the WA club would drive it across the Nullarbor and it would end up back in Phillip Island.
The order was ACT, NSW, MNC (mid north coast), QLD, SA, TAS & WA
So a schedule was worked out and the following pics were the Victorian pictures

We went further afield to the exhibition building and Flinders street station

I stopped right in front of the station and stuck my arm out the window with the torch. The taxi driver behind me thought I was mad. Unfortunately a car came into the scene just as Kevin clicked the photo

The photo at the beach I can’t remember, this may have been a SA photo

All the state photos were posted somewhere but I don’t know where they are. Anyone know?

Some of these photos have never been seen before. Some it’s probably best left that way......

So here it is now, it’s been tucked away in the cupboard for 15 years and it’s still as good as new.  No barn dust.  Lol

Hope you enjoyed the little trip down memory lane

By the way, it’s made from a steering column gear shift tube welded to the back cover of a horn

The group photo left to right
Kevin O’Neill, Dina and Tony Galea, Neville Stone, Pia Richards, Leigh Detlefsen, Laurie Richards, Geoff Fitzpatrick and Cat Wright photobombing over the top.
Someone had to take the photo - that was me
