Yep. Very clever work. I detest the guard dump headers. Bloody tight where the steering goes through. One guy on the fb ek site managed to mix and match cast headers and get them to fit but this was a 253 and a real factory look. Your ute will be very different. Thanks for posting and keep the updates coming Malcolm. Very inspiring.

Thanks guys, there was no way I was going to put the pipes through the inner guards as I’m no a fan of that either.

Next I started on the fitting of the radiator. Was planning on using the original VT Commodore radiator but it just turned out to be to tall for where I wanted to fi it. So I’ve ordered one from the USA that will fit with a little less cutting up. Same as this but complete with fans and shroud So while I’m waiting on the radiator to turn up I started on putting some of the floor back in Started with boxing in the front main cross member. Then I fitted the front section of both floor pans Next I got the transmission tunnel cut ready to fit Currently getting the Tailshafts tunnel rolled up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mal,
Not bloody bad at all. Tell me - when putting the outer sill on, did you overhead-weld all the plug welds? Because it looks like you can't tip the body shell over.

Hey Rob, yes and I really hate welding upside down....
Don't know how many times I've set myself on fire.

Hey Mal Fantastic work as always mate, looks like the Ute was in pretty good shape even though you had to take the whole floor out; the bottom of the 'A' pillars and the inner sills all look really good. I like the fact that you kept the seam between the 'B' pillar and the wheel arch and the outer sill, you can always tell when this area has been repaired as most just weld up and lose the seam. I did the same with my EK Ute and made sure the seam stayed. The 'D' bar for your steering seems pretty close to the head mate are you going to have enough clearnace for engine rock under acceleration I wonder?? As I said before great work and this is going to be a great looking Ute Mal.

Just a quick update, have finished the both sills now. Same as the other side, I’ve fitted an intermediate strengthening panel inside the sills Bit of rust to repair on the rear quarter panel also Just have to put a new panel into the lower rear quarter panel to sill area. Next ive cut and trial fitted the trans tunnel and tailshaft tunnel Not going to weld it in yet until I get the shifter and handbrake as they both fit onto the gearbox and they will be easier to fit to start with, without the trans tunnel in. Tomorrow I’ll start on cutting in the floor pans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi, excellent work on your project. The radiator you have ordered, is that a standard size they sell?. Do you have a part number?. Thanks Scott
