FC Wagon

Hello,

I'm after a 1958 FC Special Station Wagon (Station Sedan)

It must be in original condition, ideally unrestored with ownership history etc from new. A genuine low mileage example would be great.

It also must be Volcanic Grey lower & India Ivory upper, (no other colours thanks) preferably with a black and red interior.

I'm not after a project car (have enough of them already!)

I can pick up from eastern states.

Edward,  my records indicate that the car you are looking for does not exist.  Most grey and white wagons are Granite Grey and India Ivory.  Volcanic Grey is a fleet colour and only used on cars for special order from GMH.   I have one recorded wagon in Volcanic Grey and India Ivory and it has a Volcanic Grey flash, not body.

This car is a wreck in a big old wrecking yard in SA.
Urestoreable.

The chances of finding a car in the colours you want and the condition you want are small to say the least.  I have recorded details of just on 160 FC 229 vehicles from all over Australia, but one may exist out there somewhere - Good luck

Thanks for your advice.

I always assumed I had painted my sedan "Volcanic grey" as I matched some old Duco that my grandfather had, which he had used on his FC wagon in the early '70s. He'd always said it was Volcanic grey, but from your advice, this may not have been the case.

My sedan was originally a terracotta type colour, so the ID plate is irrelevant, and the wagon is long gone.

Maybe I should edit my original post to read "grey and white FC wagon"?

I realise it is a long shot to find such a particular car, but where better to start the search than this forum?

The colour scheme that you are looking for does or did exist, but i have only ever seen 2 Station Sedans with Volcanic Grey and india ivory, and i can verify this.

I had a look at the tech information on the NSW site, and couldn't really tell the difference between granite grey and volcanic grey.

I definately remember seeing a grey and white wagon at a NSW club meeting in the early 90's when they were held at Macca's Parramatta.

I can't remember whether it was a '58 or '59 scheme, but it had grey bonnet and guards.

I had a look at that blue on blue wagon, as it is only about 15 minutes from my office.

He's right, the doors don't shut properly.........

It's had a lot of rust repairs done, floors, A pillar base etc, which obviously meant the panels have come off at some stage.

It's just that either they didn't go back on with a great deal of care, or the car "moved" around if they cut everything out at once during the repair process.

Someone with patience and some basic panel beating skills (or body alignment jig) could probably work it out.

It's also been painted, but needs a good tidy up of rubbers, chrome etc from overspray.

It comes with an original log book, a workshop manual in mint condition, and details of a Higginbotham engine swap.

I only spent five or ten minutes checking it out, so don't be relying on a full appraisal for eBay bidding!

Not the one for me though.

The search is over.  

Thanks to "Chuck's Old Holden Towing & Recovery Service", I've just taken delivery of a grey/white wagon, brought up from Canberra.

One family since new, 135K miles, last registered in 1985.

Rust free apart from the crossmember under the passenger front floor. You've got to love those inland cars!

Needs a paint, and some rubbers, but otherwise pretty good.

Photos will be developed, scanned and uploaded shortly.

Now, anyone know of a grey FC ute.........., ideally low mileage, unrestored original condition.... Must be grey!

I have a special wagon 1959. It was originally India Ivory over Volcanic Grey. Is that the same as yours?

Can't wait for the numbers and the pics. I'll post some of mine when I get her back from getting her head done and new rings n bearings and new clutch.

She's also getting a new brake booster as supplied by the inimitable "Kiwi"

I'm waiting to see if it has been sabotaged and blows out my entire brake system!!

No, it is India Ivory with a Granite Grey flash.

The Volcanic Grey option was a little hard to procure.

I can't wait to get it up and going.

As for our friend over the sea, I'm eagerly awaiting a NOS guard spear for my panelvan!

Maybe he is waiting on the shore brandishing it?
