So what sort of GPS Trackers is everybody using and are they worth while?

This came up on my Facebook feed the other day, Jaycar have a 3G one for $199, put a SIM card in it and download the app to track etc

Im guessing you just put a pre paid sim in them.
With all these trackers having a monthly fee , i thought of just using an old iphone with a prepaid sim in it plugged in and stuck under the dash then you could use find my phone app.
