This is a, How longs a piece of string question. What are people paying for paint jobs, not a summernats winning paint job just a paint job that looks good and shiny. One car is absolutely rust free the other has no panel rust only subframe (which I will do), this car may also have a bit of bog in I door and rear quarter. Fred PS. SORRY

Delivered rolling (driving) ute body to panelbeaters. All trim, moulds etc had been removed. Panels held by 1-2 bolts only. Beaters performed small rust repair at tailgate hinges. Paint roughed up (not stripped to bare metal) and painted in two pack grey. Outer panels, tray and inside car. Dash top in clinker grey. No engine bay. $12k.
Cheers Harv

That 5K in a paper bag sounds nice, just wonder how that will hold up if you ever need a warranty repair!

I took mine back to bare metal myself. Body work all done. Mind you, there was no rust, only a few dents. Body was amazingly clean. Straightened everything, etch primed, undercoat, 5 coats of 2 pak. Flat black, which is harder to do than gloss, because once painted there can be no repairs without them showing. Used 10 ltrs of DNA paint at $125 per liter, plus hardener. If I count hrs at $100 an hr, all up she cost me $10,500 I had 3 quotes all about $12,000-$15,000 as long as I took it to bare metal myself.
Hope that helps. Pinky.

I had 4 lts of PPG 2 pack mixed for another car we did a few years ago in Bermuda Turquoise , the distributor got the PPG rep to come and mix it ,that was $100 bucks of the $800 total cost ..My spray painter just loved it , remember dont buff it ,and avoid runs at all costs ,they are very difficult to deal with ,,Vern

I had my EK Ute project painted by a retired guy that used to run his own panel shop, he works out of home and only does one car at a time. He charges nowhere near what others charge nowadays, he did a couple of exterior repairs and some mods I wanted, did body work, prept, primed, painted in 2pk, he bought all materials that were added to the bill of course and it took 3 months, all up this ended up just over 17k if I had of taken it to a shop at today's rates I think it would have cost double to get the finish I got. Far out guys. Think I’ll be painting my car at home in the shed. I’m too tight. I’ll have a go at most things, though I’ve farmed out the upholstery this time.
