Stromberg carby ( flooding )

Q: typically what would be the main cause for the carby to flood  on avg. needle& seat ; or float level adjustment .?🍺

Usually flooding is caused by dirt from the fuel tank getting in between the needle and seat.
Disconnect the inlet fuel line from the pump (hold finger over end so fuel doesn't run out), start engine and let it run until it runs out of fuel.  Reconnect inlet fuel line to the pump, and hopefully the dirt caught between needle and seat will have been flushed away.

Or you can remove the needle and seat from the carby, blow through it to clear it (don't lose the needle), then put the needle back in and suck on the inlet end.  If the needle and seat are sealing, you won't be able to suck any air through.  Now that you have petrol-mouth, you can reassemble the carby.

Thanks Rob ,& yes I have had problems with dirt coming up from the tank; I also run a filter just before the pump. When we drove over to Toowoomba (from Perth ) in2016 we had problems on the second day at Norseman . Hopefully Canberra will better .cheers 🍺
