I'm on a mission.  In August my Dad turns 70.  His first car was an FC Holden - Paint Scheme was Terraglow over Adobe Beige.
I'm going to modify a Trax FC Seminole Brown over Adobe Beige and make a small diorama as a gift.
But I am stuck ... I cannot get the paint formula for Terraglow (code 9665). Not even the very helpful technical people at Dulux-PPG were able to find it.
There is an FE FC facebook page, but their huge collective wisdom hasn't sourced an answer yet.

I've searched this forum and "terraglow" comes up a few times but as far as I can see no specific formula.
Has anyone here, or does anyone here know someone, who has colour matched the Terraglow colour?
I know Trax has put out an FC in the reverse scheme - Adobe Beige over Terraglow - maybe someone who worked on that project can help?
Even getting the name of a modern colour that is a close match would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Regards
Allan

John (red_devil) is a forum member who has produced many high quality models, including FE & FC Holdens.
His models are very detailed in authentic colours that have been thoroughly researched, so he may be able to help with a model to match your needs.

I bought some touch up paint from an auto paint shop who matched a painted part from my FC by eye.
The result was excellent & I had the option of buying it in a spray can also.
Club members near you may be able to help with painted samples in colours you need & with local paint shop contacts.

Thanks for the response DJ.
I did find John through a google search - as you said great models - on this question he also was at a loss.
Then he suggested I try this forum!

That's a bit circular, sorry.  There will others here who will probably add a reply when they get a chance to log on.
I think the Adobe Beige will be the easiest to match, not sure that Terraglow is as common. A photo may the best you can hope for if it's a rare one.

Hi Alan,
I did see your dilemma on facebook.
I was going to reply but have not got around to it.
Do you have the Trax model with Terraglow on it ?
There was a guy on here that painted his full size FC sedan a colour that was matched off a trax model FC sedan.
I would put out the story on the Trax facebook page for someone closer by you that has one that will let you borrow it to have the paint matched off it.
I would gladly let you borrow mine but I am in Adelaide.
If you don't get any luck let me know and I can post it up to you.

Cheers Stewy   Cool

DJ ... thankfully Adobe Beige is easy to get.

Stewy.
"I can post it to you" ... that is incredibly generous of you!
If I am still floundering at the end of next week I might take you up on the offer.
I've just googled Trax/Top Gear and they have plenty of contact info ... which tells me they are happy to chat.
I'll try them tomorrow

Alan, I did the colours for the Trax models and I will have to disappoint you by telling you that the colour was matched from a photo. Tongue
I have a number of photos of terraglow cars and I just used one that looked good.

You could try Eastern Auto Paints. They have a big range of colours converted from original formula into modern paints. Terraglow is a rare colour though.

Hi Allan,

Welcome to the forum. We've been speaking on and off on the FE-FC Enthusiasts FaceBook page - I'm Richard, I administer that thing too Smiley

Ken's right, it's a hard colour to find. It doesn't even appear in the BALM Duco Book, which is usually the source of truth for these things. It's also devilishly difficult to accurately capture in a photograph. I also have the Models56 wagon shown here (the 10th car, 2nd on 3rd row) which I've taken a couple of pics of, but the colour in the photos just isn't quite right. It's an orange/pink sort of terracotta colour, but the photos look red or brown.

cheers

I have Books 1 & 2 of GMH colours from Berger Paints.  Cannot find the colour in them.

Thanks All.
One thing is obvious - the FE/FC people in Australia are really well connected!

On the basis of all the wisdom there is a good chance Dad isn't going to remember the colour clearly either.
I'll start at Eastern Auto Paints on the chance that someone has paint matched.

If that is a miss then ... Ken ... was the photo you used as the colour on the trax vehicle a digital one?
If I can get a copy I'll get it properly printed and use this as the basis.

If that fails there is always Stewy's idea.

No matter what I now have a solution ... for which I am very appreciative to you all.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
SUCCESS!!

Eastern Auto Paints have original Terraglow colour chips and old records from a book.
Big shout-out to Jill and the team there who were exceptionally helpful and going above and beyond.

I really appreciate all your help in getting to this point.
When the diorama is done I'll post a couple of photos.

Have a great day

Great news Allan, I look forward to seeing pictures of the end result diorama.
I am also glad that we were collectively able to help out.
This forum is such a fantastic gathering of knowledge for all things FE/FC.
Keep up the good work all.

Good for you Allan.
That will surely make the gift very special. I look forward to seeing photos too.
My next birthday ending in zero will also be 70 (that's harder to admit than I thought).
I think I'll point he kids to this thread for a hint.
