picked up the tailgate parts l needed , also had a quick look at kens new fc very nice old original car
will make a good weekend cruiser ,leave it as is , drive and enjoy

You would have to split the rubber length ways ,place it on the bar
then super glue the rubber together again .
easiest way l think.

I would think the rubber would be slid on and then the rod cold formed in a jig. Very hard to reproduce the look with a vice and a hammer  Ken |

They are a weird kind of rubber.
I reckon they are formed in a mould around the rod ?

I can cut them out of rubber on the water jet with a slot in one side idont think they would need glueing as it would hold its form.
